Finalmente... el documental en la red

Los Descendientes del Dresden - El documental from Juan Pablo Alvarez on Vimeo.

Finalmente decidí subir el documental al cyberespacio.
Perdón por la calidad pero traté de comprimirlo. Es por esto que van a ver que las noticias no se pueden leer muy bien.
Además, (y esto ya parece una fe de erratas anticipada) no tiene los subtítulos correctos todavía. Mil disculpas por todo esto.
Espero les guste y se aceptan críticas y comentarios.

Finally I´ve decided to upload the documentary to the cyberspace.
I'm sorry about the quality but I tried to compress it. That's why you'll see that some images of newspapers are quite hard to read.
Also, it hasn't got subtitles yet. I'm working on this.
I hope you like it and it accept critics and comentaries,

It is an excellent idea to create a video account of the story of the SS Dresden's passengers. The mixture of languages and of experts' commentaries truly helps the viewer get a deeper feel for the story of this immigration project and its tale of human suffering. Congratulations to Juan Pablo and his colaborators!

Felicitaciones por este trabajo. Es difícil reunir opiniones diferentes sobre este tema y aún más presentarlas de un modo coherente. Ambos objetivos están más que cumplidos. Bravo por esta iniciativa, y ojalá incentive más trabajos académicos sobre el Dresden.

Felicitaciones JP. Bien hecho. Que historia tan triste! Viendo su documental me sentí muy conmovido. Me parece un paso importante en la narración de la historia de los irlandeses en la Argentina.

Surely the tragic, calamitous story of the Dresden emigrants deserves to be told in a major film. Would it be possible to get Argentine and Irish film-makers together in a joint project?

Objetives / Objetivos

* To rescue the story of the biggest batch of Irish and British immigrants ever to come to Argentina in order to brake the historical amnesia.

* To contribute with the descendants families of these immigrants to the better knowledge of the history of their ancestors.

* To reduce the cultural barriers that many descendants families now have by supporting them in what they may need.

* To create a memorial and put it in the La Viticola Station dedicated to the memory of those who died in the colony.

* To motivate with this, the construction of a new cultural link between Ireland and Argentina.

* To preserve in the memory of the community the narrations and tales of the immigrant descendants of the SS Dresden for posterity.

* Rescatar la historia del mayor contingente de inmigrantes Irlandeses e Ingleses que vinieron a la Argentina con el fin de romper la "amnesia histórica".

* Contribuir con las familias de estos descendientes a una mejor comprensión de la historia de sus ancestros.

* Disminuir o atenuar la barrera cultural que separa actualmente a varias de éstas familias brindándoles el soporte necesario a tal fin.

* Gestionar la puesta en la estación de La Viticola una placa recordatoria dedicada la memoria de quienes murieron en la colonia.

* Generar nuevos lazos culturales entre Irlanda y Argentina.

* Guardar en la memoria de la colectividad los relatos de los descendientes de los inmigrantes del SS Dresden para la posteridad.

Juan Pablo Alvarez

Juan Pablo nació en Temperley (gran Buenos Aires) el 24 de Febrero de 1976. Desde el año 2001 investiga en "Dresden Affair" de 1889, incluido el plan de gestión de la inmigración por agentes argentinos en Irlanda y el Reino Unido, el viaje que hicieron en el vapor SS Dresden y sus pasajeros, y el proyecto de colonia que se quiso formar entre Napostá y Bahia Blanca. Ha cooperado activamente desde los inicios de la organización SILAS (www.irlandeses.org). Es Licenciado en Marketing y actualmetne trabaja como Gerente Comercial de un importante Relais & Chateaux en Patagonia.

Juan Pablo was born in Temperley (Buenos Aires), in February 24th 1976. He has been researching since 2001 the "Dresden Affair" of 1889, including the migration scheme managed by Argentine agents in Europe, the journey of the SS Dresden and it's passengers, and the Colony project that was settled between Napostá and the city of Bahía Blanca. He has been cooperating with SILAS organization (www.irlandeses.org). Juan Pablo has a Bachelor degree in Marketing and he works as Commercial Manager for a very important Relais & Chateaux in Patagonia.
